Experience in compiling alexicographic portrait of the encyclopedic dictionary "Britannica"

The article is devoted to making a lexicographic portrait of the encyclopedic dictionary «Britannica». The scientific novelty of the work is the material of the study. The author has analyzed more than 100 dictionary entries of the encyclopedic dictionary «Britannica» and compiled a lexicographic portrait of the dictionary. The main methods of the article are descriptive method, questionnaire method and lexicographic analysis. The author analyzed the Britannica dictionary, focusing on the scheme compiled by O.M. Karpova. The author comes to the conclusion that «Britannica» is a unique reference book, bringing together more than a hundred thousand different articles, puzzles, biographies.
