Pragmatic functions of the past tense form of the Russian verb in a communicative situation

The article is devoted to the study of pragmatic functions of the past tense form of the Russian verb in a communicative situation. The study aims at revealing the peculiarities of the functioning of the past tense form of the Russian verb in speech communication. The scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that for the first time a special and systematic pragmatic study of the past tense form of the Russian verb is carried out, and pragmatic functions of this grammatical form in the speech interaction are identified. The study summarized such pragmatic functions of the past tense form of the Russian verb in a communicative situation as deictic functions, the function for conveying speech implications, triggering pragmatic presuppositions and constituting speech acts.
