Historical toponyms: the names of burial mounds and mound-shaped hills of the first half of the 1st millennium of the plain-foothill part of the Kabardino-Balkaria

In historiography, scattered information has been preserved about the historical names of burial mounds and kurgan-shaped hills of the first half of the 1st millennium of the flat and foothill regions of the Kabardino-Balkaria, incl. earthen fortifications and their cone-shaped citadels. The purpose of the article is to systematize and generalize these data and characterize their possibilities in historical reconstructions of the distant past. The work is based on toponyms associated with monuments of the first half of the 1st millennium, located on the territory of Kabardino-Balkaria. The article talks about the potential of using this unique source when studying the history of the region.
