The article is devoted to the analysis of the transformation of the views of the supreme military-political leadership of the USSR on the principles of the construction of tank troops during the first and second five-year plans. The fundamental document of strategic planning in this direction was the "System of armored vehicles". The author examines the main technical and technological features of the organization of the production of Soviet tanks in the period from 1929 to 1937.
