The concept "conscience" in the language picture of the world of the British people (based on proverbs)

It is well known that for effective intercultural interaction with native speakers of any language, it is important to understand their culture, mentality, and worldview. The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the language picture of the world of the British people. The purpose of the work is to analyze the language picture of the world of the British ethnic group through the proverbs of the English language that verbalize the concept "conscience". Proverbs reflecting the concept "conscience" in the English language were selected for the study by a continuous sampling method. The proverbs were divided into blocks according to their characteristic features. As a result, the authors came to the conclusion that conscience for the British people is a virtue that generates positive, bright, sincere in people.
