Socializing potential of a foreign language in an economic university

The article is devoted to the study of the problem of the socializing potential of a foreign language in an economic university. The author justifies the relevance and practical significance of the research topic through the prism of the phenomenon of professional socialization. The hypothesis is formulated that a foreign language, as a separate independent competent-forming discipline, has certain potential for the formation and creation of a stable basis for the development of skills of professional socialization in a foreign-language [non-cultural] environment of students of an economic university. The search for supporting arguments is initiated through the methodological (situational teaching methodology) and instrumental (authentic audio, video and text material) aspect of the formation and development of the critical (basing) skill of intercultural foreign language communication. As a result of the study, a foreign language with sufficient potential also contributes to the formation and development of other components of professional socialization, such as professional activity, professional competence, professional activity, professional thinking, etc. As a general conclusion, it is postulated that, both the pedagogical and academic community should focus more on the problem of professional foreign-language [non-cultural] socialization of students, including economic universities, in order to ensure the latter maximum opportunities for successful social and professional adaptation and subsequent integration into foreign-language [non-cultural] environment
