The purpose of this work is to determine whether historians have developed a method of quantitative analysis of the content of history textbooks. Based on the data obtained, it is necessary to develop an optimal way to apply the method of quantitative analysis of the content of textbooks of the history of the USSR to study the state historical educational policy of the USSR.
The article examines modern historiographical sources devoted to the quantitative analysis of the content of school textbooks of the history of the USSR. The comparative historiographical method, as well as methods of observation, generalization and interpretation of the results were used in the study.
In the course of the work, the existing practices of using the method of quantitative analysis of the content of school history textbooks in modern historiographical sources were identified, the degree of development of this method was determined, the optimal approach based on quantitative analysis of the content of history textbooks for studying the state historical educational policy of the USSR was developed.
The results of the study served as a basis for further research of the state historical educational policy of the USSR with the use of history textbooks as the main historiographical sources, and also contribute to the development of the potential of the quantitative analysis method regarding the content of school history textbooks.
