ON THE QUESTION OF FUNCTIONAL HOMONYMY IN THE SYSTEM OF PARTS OF SPEECH OF THE MODERN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

The article provides a detailed description of different types of homonymy with the involvement of grammatical works of authoritative Russian linguists, their differences are considered, and a detailed description of the role of functional homonymy in replenishing the composition of both significant and official parts of speech of the modern Russian language is carried out.As a result of the study, it was found that grammatical transposition and the occurrence of grammatically transitional phenomena are caused by the functioning of the language system. Functional homonymy – an indicator of the living life of a language and a source of replenishment of its composition – is characteristic of the sphere of functioning of prepositional-case word forms and is a source of formation of new, more accurate and diverse means of expressing various semantic relations between the components of a phrase.
