Origen in his writings relied on all possible sources – among them the Jewish textual tradition, philology, philosophy and even natural sciences. The importance of Origen as the main ecclesiastical writer, as well as a theorist of allegorical interpretation, has long been recognized in science. Origen was not only an interpreter of Christian texts, but also an allegorist and translator. Origen remained a controversial figure after his death.
