NOMINATION OF FANTASTIC CREATURES IN TERRY PRATCHETT’S NIGHT WATCH (DISKWORLD) SERIES, CULTURAL AND LANGUAGE DIFFICULTIES OF TRANSLATION INTO RUSSIAN

Terry Pratchett’s Night Watch (Diskworld) Series contains an almost excessive number of fictional characters’ names, fictional topography quasi-scientific terminology etc. All such names and terms suggest many ironical and sarcastic connotations and allusions, which makes translating of the Diskworld series extremely difficult. Still, in most cases the puns and irony of the original are not lost in translation. «The untranslatables» are translated, classified ad commented. Statistics of translators’ devices conclude the paper.
