MINI-THESAURUS OF RAY BRADBURY’S STORY TEXT “THE DRUMMER BOY OF SHILOH” IN ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN

The article is devoted to the compilation of a mini-thesaurus of fiction text consisting of adjectives, nouns and verbs examples in English and Russian. The research was conducted on the material of Ray Bradbury’s original text “The Drummer Boy of Shiloh” in English and L. Zhdanov’s translation version in Russian. In the course of the work, the goal was set to compare the studied parts of speech and identify similarities and differences in translation. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were solved: 1) to find all nouns, adjectives and verbs in Ray Bradbury’s short story “The Drummer from Shiloh”; 2) to classify nouns, adjectives and verbs by types in comparative terms; 3) to compile and analyze the table with language fragments differences of the text in English and Russian. Such methods as: continuous sampling of vocabulary, classification, quantitative calculation were used in the study of the chosen material.
