SEMANTIC-CONNOTATIONAL FIELD OF THE CONCEPT «OTHERNESS» IN RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH WRITTEN DISCOURSE

Modern realities actualize the study of the concept "otherness". This article explores the semantic-connotational field of this term in Russian and English written discourse. Studying the semantics of the Russian words "otherness" and "different" proved the absence of their synonymy, which is typical for the English words "otherness/othering" and "different". The concepts “other” and “different” in the language systems under consideration have different emotional nuances: in Russian it corresponds to the word “friend”, and in English it has a negative context. Understanding the difference in these concepts connotations in Russian and English written discourse allows avoiding conflict situations.
