THE WAYS OF TRANSLATING ENGLISH MODAL-EVALUATIVE WORDS INTO RUSSIAN

The article studies a group of modal words expressing the desirability or undesirability of performed actions. The material for the study is a sample of classical English literature: a novel by J. Austen “Sense and Sensibility” and its Russian-language version. The purpose of the study is to identify the main methods of transferring modal words when translating a literary text from English into Russian. As a result, several ways of reproducing the studied units were identified in the Russian language.
