The paper analyses the ways of ensuring expressiveness that junior students can acquire. A classification of expressive means is proposed depending on the type of discourse in which they can be used – oral or written. Potential difficulties that students may encounter learning to use expressive means are identified, and possible ways to overcome these difficulties are suggested. Such an approach contributes to producing an effective utterance, as well as teaching students how to use expressive means correctly and appropriately.
