The article marks characteristic features of the phenomenon of inter-ethnic and interfaith dialogue in the Volga region in the conditions of social shifts of the late XX - early XXI centuries. The article shows significance of cultural and historical experience of interaction of Islam and Christianity in the region for formation of tolerant relations and affirmation of the culture of coexistence of these religions at the modern stage. The potential of teaching humanitarian disciplines as a way to harmonize interreligious relations has been disclosed.
