FOREIGN BOOKSELLING BUSINESS IN RUSSIA AT THE END OF THE 18TH – BEGINNING OF THE 19TH CENTURY

The article examines the influence of foreign booksellers on the Russian book market of the late 18th – early 19th centuries. The policy of the Russian authorities to regulate the foreign bookselling business is characterized. The publications that gained the most popularity in Russia are shown.
