THE GROUPS OF PRECEDENT NAMES BY THE NUMBER “FOUR” IN ANCIENT AND MODERN CHINESE CULTURE

This article discusses different groups of precedent names in Chinese folk culture, which consist of four precedent names (in any group, these precedent names have similar characteristics). Such a phenomenon can be considered a category of composition in linguoculturology. Comparing with ancient times, in Chinese culture the number “four” has opposite meanings, it was a symbol of good luck. And in our time, “four" has the opposite meaning. We see that in Chinese culture there are groups of precedent names that consist of four elements.
