CENTRIST PARTIES AND POLITICAL MOVEMENTS IN FRANCE: HISTORY AND MODERNITY

The article regards centrism as a phenomenon of political life in France since 1789. The article is focused on mechanisms and peculiarities of such system. Centrism, also known as the third way, emerged as the reaction on the incapacity of the government to solve political crisis within the framework of traditional left-right paradigm. The article studies the evolution of centrism through ages including bonapartist regimes. In contemporary France centrism is a way to overcome the crisis of traditional parties, but due to president Macron it has acquired its new characteristics.
