FROM THE HISTORY OF RESETTLEMENT POLICY IN THE STEPPE REGION IN THE LATE XIX - EARLY XX CENTURY

The article discusses the features and specifics of the migration policy of the tsarist government in the steppe regions of the empire. The resettlement of peasants from the European part of Russia to the Steppe Territory was massive and, in order to prevent mass confusion and unrest, land allotment parties were created, which were engaged in land surveys in the region, and later stood at the origins of the formation of resettlement plots. On the example of the Kokchetav district of the Akmola region, the problems and difficulties that the migrant peasants had to face were identified: settling in a new place and lack of funds for farming.
