THE MOTIVE OF BETRAYAL AND SACRIFICE OF JUDAS IN THE STORY OF LEONID ANDREEV "JUDAS ISCARIOT" (TO THE PROBLEM STATEMENT)

This article discusses the formulation of a question related to a new reading of Leonid Andreev's story "Judas Iscariot", which in the research literature is traditionally interpreted as an expression of the author's subjective vision of the Gospel plot. His subjective interpretation is associated with the modernism inherent in the literature of the early XX century, to which the author of the story belonged. The article attempts to analyze the plot and ideological moves of the story through the prism of a deep analysis of L. St. Andrew's Gospel text, which could allow the writer not so much to interpret it in an original way, creating an author's text array, as to artistically expand and deepen the Gospel concept, without departing from the canonical interpretation, thereby clarifying the role of Judas in the events set forth in the Gospel plot. The article highlights the plot-ideological parallels and outlines ways to study them based on the system of motives of the actions of the heroes. As a result , an attempt is made to propose a new concept of interpretation of the story of L. Andreeva's "Judas Iscariot" from the point of view of following the plan of the Evangelists and its artistic embodiment.
