THE SPIRITUAL ASPECT IN "RUSSIAN BOOKS FOR READING" BY L.N. TOLSTOY

The article attempts to comprehend the spiritual basis of the works from the collection "Russian books for reading" by L.N. Tolstoy. The spiritual potential of "books" is practically not disclosed in the Russian literature. Basically, the works were analyzed in the ethical plane, and not in the paradigm of Tolstoy's theocentric thinking, formed mainly under the influence of Vedic spirituality. The analysis of a number of works from the collection "Russian books for reading" in the context of the Vedic teachings of Yama and Niyama [2] allowed us to reveal their ontological orientation. This sign pushes the limits of the ethical to the level of the metaphysical, which is characteristic of spiritual prose. This scientific article is aimed at a comprehensive analysis of the spiritual aspect in the "Russian Books for Reading" — a pedagogical work by Leo Tolstoy. The research is based on methodological tools, which includes content analysis, semiotic analysis and intertextual research. The main emphasis is on quantitative and qualitative indicators that illustrate the integration of spiritual elements into the textual structure of the work. Statistical methods are used to measure the frequency of use of key concepts and their correlation with the main thematic blocks. This work contributes to the expansion of academic understanding of the influence of religious and ethical concepts on the formation of L.N. Tolstoy's pedagogical theory and practice. Not only the "Russian books for Reading" themselves, but also the accompanying pedagogical treatises, letters and diaries of the author are used as the main source of data. The statistical analysis was performed using the R software, and covers the processing of a text corpus in the volume of more than 600 thousand words. The introduction to the study includes a review of the existing literature, justification of the methodological approach and formulation of the main research questions.
