DERIVATES OF GREEK ORIGIN OF THE INDO-EUROPEAN ROOT *GENE ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE WORDS EPIGON, GENEALOGY, GENESIS

this article concerns derivatives of the Greek origin of the Indo–European root *gene - with the meaning of ‘to give birth, to occur, to generate, to produce’: epigone, genealogy, genesis in the Russian language. According to the data received from historical reconstruction and etymological analysis the timeframe have been used to establish for the entry of these derivatives into the Russian language, the development of their meanings in modern Russian language was shown. Words that have diverse phonetic and graphic forms emanate to the Indo-European root *gene-. The data obtained allow us to mark the development of the semantic meaning of the root *gene at various language stages.
