COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF MARI AND FRENCHPHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS-ZOONYMSWITH LEXEMES «ПИЙ»'DOG'AND «ПЫРЫС» 'CAT', «CHIEN» AND «CHAT»

The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of the semantics of zoonyms-phraseologisms of the Mari and French languages, containing the key lexemes «пий» 'dog' and «пырыс» 'cat' (in the Mari language), andchien and chat (in the French language). The purpose of the comparative analysis is to identify similar and different points in terms of the content of these linguistic units. The research methods were descriptive and comparative methods.As a result of the study, it was found that there is a different ratio of direct and figurative meanings in the compared pareomological units: complete similarity, partial coincidence and lack of equivalents. A number of proverbs contain a negative assessment of a person’s negative character traits.
