PECULIARITIES OF COMPETENCE FORMATION FOR TRANSLATING PROFESSIONALLY ORIENTED TEXTS IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE TO IT STUDENTS

This article considers the process of translation competence formation among students studying “Information technologies” specialty. After defining the term “translation competence” in a general way and proving the necessity for teaching the future IT specialists the professionally oriented translation in English classes, the article describes the process of translation training consisting of four stages. The article presents fragments of classes where students learn to translate fragments of professionally oriented texts using translation transformations under the guidance of the teacher. The material presented in the article proves that the formation of translation competence among students of a non-language university influences the process of learning professionally oriented English and contributes to professional development.
