The present research is done within the framework of cognitive linguistics and dwells upon an emotion-based cluster. The article aims to describe both implicit and explicit similarities and differences in conceptualizing the emotion “fear /miedo” in the English and Spanish languages (the research is based upon the online versions of the English-language and Spanish-language press covering the topics of climate change and environmental protection). The study is carried out using the cluster analysis method. In the English articles, emotives with the meaning of fear-disgust and fear-panic were found, no units with the meaning "trepidation" were found. In the Spanish analyzed articles, no fear emotives with connotations of “risk”, “panic” were found. The common components of the “fear/miedo” emotional cluster are fear-anxiety, fear-fear, and fear-horror. The general characteristics of the studied emotional concept testify to its universality, as well as to the universal nature of the emotion of fear in general. Common linguistic representations of the emotional cluster “fear/miedo” also testify to the universality of linguistic means. The presence of features between the emotional concepts of the two languages and their linguistic representation proves the ethnic marking of this emotional concept and the uniqueness of each language. The differences between the national concept sphere and its linguistic representation within one language can be explained by the difference in the communicative goal set by native speakers of the language and culture who transmit information. The authors of newspaper articles strive not only to inform the reader, but also to influence emotionally, indicating a range of dangerous problems.
