THE IMAGE OF A RICKSHAW IN THE NOVEL OF LAO SHE “RICKSHAW”, THE STORY OF LU XIN “A LITTLE INCIDENT” AND THE BUNIN’S STORY “BROTHERS"

Guo Yu   (Southwest University (SWU), Chongqing, China)

The article examines the depiction of such a character as a rickshaw driver in a number of works of Chinese and Russian literature. There are many parallels at the level of interpretation of the image and stylistic techniques for its creation. Writers use such techniques as antithesis, detailing of human physicality, deaestheticization, the use of olfactory vocabulary and landscape descriptions. These stylistic and linguistic means help the authors to express sympathy for simple, poor people, to convey the idea of the inadmissibility of human existence in such conditions as in the early 20th century lived rickshaw pullers, about the importance of a humane attitude towards people of working professions.
