The article is devoted to the peculiarities of translating Chinese primary sources related to the field of traditional Chinese medicine into Russian, using the example of the translation of the literary monument of Ancient China "黄黄" ("The Treatise of the Yellow Emperor on the Inner" or "The Inner Canon of the Yellow Lord – Huang Di Nei-ching"), which is a fundamental work in the field of Chinese folk medicine. The author notes significant differences in approaches to the perception of the system of knowledge about therapy and health care in the so-called "eastern" and "Western" worldviews; indicates the difficulty of unambiguous correlation of many concepts from the field of physiology, pharmacology, medical manipulations, etc. of the source language and the recipient language. The main reason for possible semantic losses in the execution of translations is insufficient consideration of the historical and cultural conditions in which knowledge concerning the understanding of nature, genesis and treatment of diseases in Ancient China was formed and recorded. The transfer of this context, taken in unity with the humanistic philosophy of China, the doctrine of the five elements, the theory of the interaction of the basic principles of "yin" and "yang", as well as the special importance attached to the circulation of vital energy in the human body, is a prerequisite for performing a qualified translation of ancient Chinese works on medicine. In addition, as one of the key problems, the author highlights the lack of a unified set of generally accepted definitions for the terms of traditional Chinese medicine (hereinafter – TCM), recognized by the international medical community, which generates discord in various versions of the translation of the same works. The paper summarizes recommendations on the use of certain techniques and techniques for translating Chinese texts related to the subject under consideration, in order to maximize the preservation of the ideological and artistic originality and applied meaning of these works, which is almost always implemented at several semantic levels, including due to the special semantic structure of Chinese hieroglyphic writing, as well as taking into account a complex of extralinguistic factors.
