THE ESSENCE OF POLYPHONIC NOVELS AND THE STUDY OF WAYS TO IMPLEMENT THEM

Polyphonic novel is a literary critical term proposed by the famous literary critic Bakhtin in the book “Problems of Dostoevsky’s Poetics” to denote the high artistic level manifested in Dostoevsky’s novels. The core of the theory of the polyphonic novel is “dialogue.” Polyphonic novels are not completely objective novels or literary genres, but an exploration of the ways of creating a novel. How to create a polyphonic novel is a problem that Bakhtin did not solve after he proposed the theory of the polyphonic novel. This article explores the possible creative ways of polyphonic novels from three sides: weakening the image of the narrator, creativity from the “person himself” and the infinitely weakening of the image of the reader. This can be seen as an innovation and development of the theory of polyphonic novels.
