The article raises the question of the peculiarities of the organization of psychiatric care in St. Petersburg in the 1880-1890s. The approach to providing assistance and organizing treatment for the mentally ill in the Alexander III House of Charity and the city Panteleimonovskaya Hospital for the mentally ill is compared.
