About some tendencies in the research of maikop culture

The article deals with a number of actual problems of studying maikop culture (maikop-novosvobodnaya cultural-historical association - hereinafter referred to as MNA). The main generalizing publications devoted to the study of MNA are described. It is said about some reasons for the uneven and one-sided study of the monuments of maikop culture. Is being considered the dominance of archeology new-building`s and the so-called kurgan archeology on the study of maikop antiquities, as well as the search for the origins of this culture in the Middle East. The author comes to the conclusion that the named dominances (tendencies) negatively affect the results of ethnic attribution of monuments of maikop-novosvobodnaya type.
