The article raises questions about the value meanings of extended foreign language education, from a position of new scientific views. The very concept of "foreign language education" is disclosed, its role and functions in the continuous education system. The necessity of continuity of the primary and extended foreign language teaching is proved for the best preparation of talented, intellectually gifted students for life, the creation of favorable conditions for learning a foreign language for personal and professionally oriented purposes. New models are introduced in the structure of extended foreign language education in the form of multidisciplinary educational institutions, in which students are offered the latest teaching strategies for studying a foreign language in a professional context using information and communication techniques. The possibilities of extended foreign language education are shown in the example of one of such models - television studios - as a factor in the development of the cultural linguistic personality, the space for mastering the specifics of the chosen profession in the field of television journalism. The author discusses the principles of organizing extended foreign language education following the goals and objectives of the mainstream education in the direction "foreign languages" and formulates the prospects for its development in the context of the new generation GEF.
