Comparative analysis of the Chinese dictionary "The sea of words" and "The Russian encyclopedic dictionary" edited by I.N. Berezina

This article is devoted to the study of the chinese dictionary "The Sea of Words" (辞海) and "The Russian Encyclopedic Dictionary" edited by I.N. Berezina from the comparative aspect. The questions of common specificity of dictionaries (thematic component, structural basis, lexical composition) as well as their functional features are observed. In particular, it is noted that each of these dictionaries is characterized by its unique specificity of its vocabulary, which is very clearly manifested by examining anthroponyms, toponyms, names of festivals, and in some measure phytonyms. The unique specificity of the vocabulary composition of these dictionaries, according to the author, is related with the peculiarities of Russian and Chinese languages, their geographical location of Russia and China, as well as the cultural and historical features.
