The antagonism between the interests of the Greek and Turkish communities of Cyprus during the struggle for the island's independence from Britain

Emerging historical contradictions between Greek and Turkish communities on the island of Cyprus facilitated the occurrence of interethnic conflict on the island, which still remains frozen. In this article the author analyzes interests of both communities before achieving independence of Cyprus and also the appeared nationalist feelings.
