Charitable and educational activity of women in the Nizhny Novgorod province in the second half of the 19th century

In article women's charitable and educational activity in the Nizhny Novgo-rod province in the second half of the 19th century is considered. Long time for women access to professional realization therefore their activity during the studied period has found a way out in the social sphere has been limited. Charitable undertakings were shown in the form of support of welfare pro-jects (schools, schools, shelters, the help to pupils). Involvement of women in public life of the Nizhny Novgorod province affected first of all represent-atives of elite groups and layers.
