Trade between Egypt, Syria And other provinces of the Ottoman Empire in the XVIII century: Features of production and marketing of textiles

The article describes trade cooperation between Egypt, Syria and provinces of the Ottoman Empire. The 18th c. mutual relations were characterized by a large-scale supply of textile products and raw materials. It is noted that goods exported from Syria to Egypt were mostly household goods and those that belonged to "luxury items", while the Egyptian supplies were of domestic and military applications, providing cloth, sewing materials and even construction materials for the needs of the Ottomans army and Navy. The existence of stable economic relations ensured relative predictability in the political sphere. The article is based on the materials from the Egyptian city archives and for the first time introduces terms of textile weight measures used in the Egypt of that time.
