The question of recognition of the Polish independence by provisional government (march 1917)

The paper studies to the foreign policy activity of Provisional government for the Polish question which on the eve of and after February revolution of 1917 was beyond actually Russian internal political agenda more and more is turned into a powerful factor of the international relations, strengthening military and diplomatic rivalry of the countries of the Fourfold union and Entente. For the cabinet headed by the G.E. Lvov, complexity of decision-making across Poland, was that it, had to correspond, on the one hand, to long-term strategic interests of the country, and with another – to consider promptly changing international realities. On the basis of archival materials, the author of article analyzes priority installations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after February events, considers a role and a place of the Polish question in foreign policy plans of the Russian diplomats and politicians, in detail analyzes the reasons which induced Provisional government to recognize the status of future Polish state.
