This article deals with some particularities of teaching French as the language of international law, the most important condition of which is the fusion of profes-sional and linguistic directions within the framework of the interdisciplinary ap-proach. Principles of functionality and early specialization are emphasized, as the most necessary for the implementation of professionally oriented foreign lan-guage teaching for specialists in international law. Relying on the principle of functionality, it is alleged that the necessary subject material selection in teaching is one of the important tasks for the implementation of professional communica-tion. This article gives examples of such selection. It is emphasized that early lin-guistic specialization (professionalization) inputs students to professional dis-course and promotes the formation of professional and communicative compe-tence as well as the development of professional thinking through a foreign lan-guage.
