The article describes the scientific and practical stage of preparation for the candidate’s exam in English. The models of selected technical English terms and their Russian equivalents are compared. In the article the problems of translating multicomponent terminological combinations in scientific and technical texts are considered. One must pay special attention to the area, which terms belong to and the context of their use.
