Interpretation of the concept "environment"

The study of the conceptosphere "environment" is an important scientific challenge, because ecology and environmental protection are becoming an increasingly important component of the life of the modern world community. The increasing role of information and the methods of its transmission allow us to identify that nowadays there is a lack of study of the metaphorical representation of the environment in modern mass media. The article proves there is necessity of studying the texts of ecological discourse from cognitive linguistics points of view. The analysis of the multiplicity of interpretations of the conceptosphere "environment" has been carried out on the materials of the newspaper discourse of environmental themes, which is becoming more widespread because it is connected with human activities.There are large number of concept definitions because its category is mental, figurative. In the analysis of the articles we used descriptive and comparative methods, the method of contextual analysis, the method of quantitative analysis.
