Formation and development of higher education on the Northeast of USSR (1950s–1970s)

This paper explore the circumstances of the organization of Magadan State Pedagogical Institute in the Magadan Region in 1960 and its main activities in the 1960s–1970s. The structure of the institute, the state of the material and technical base, the number, the composition of students and academic performance are reviewed. Authors indicate the stages of the development of higher education on the Northeast of Russia and the most significant problems in the activity of the Magadan State Pedagogical Institute. Particular attention is paid to the issue of faculty training.
