The sign-contextual model of learning as conceptual basis for improving the language competence of students

The article is devoted to the speech culture as a condition of effective communication of future specialists in a technical University. It shows the role and significance of speech culture in the formation of a high level of professional communication culture of future engineers. The experience of the “Russian language and speech culture” working program implementation in the technical University is presented. The competence acquired as a result of studying this discipline is considered. The article considers three components of speech: normative, communicative, ethical. Psycholinguistic testing results of students are presented and analysed. The importance of ethics both in business communication and in everyday life as well as the importance of self-education in mastering communication skills is stressed.
