Spiritual and moral education in Russian orthodox schools and Russian orthodox oriented schools in Russia

In modern Russia there are several types of schools that have different attitudes toward Orthodoxy. Orthodox schools implement a religious component in their educational process, while Orthodox-oriented schools implement a different approach - in this type of schools Orthodoxy is studied as the cultural value of the people, as well as general education schools in which Orthodoxy is spoken with children at the level of ideas and conceptions. This article examines the different approaches to presenting students the knowledge about Orthodox culture and the realization of spiritual and moral (virtuous) upbringing. More details are considered for orthodox schools of a culturological direction. Special attention is paid to the principle of secularity. The authors point out the possibilities and limitations in various laws of the Russian Federation. Separately they examine the requirements for the educational organization to obtain a confessional representation from the Russian Orthodox Church.
