Ivanov N.   (Chuvash State University named after I.N. Ulyanov (Cheboksary))

The article reflects the processes that took place with the militia in the territory of the Chuvash Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in the 1930s and the mid-1980s, related to the ongoing modernization of Soviet society. During the period under investigation, the territory of the Chuvash Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was divided, depending on the changes taking place in society, on the districts. As a result, their number decreased or increased. The militia structure underwent cardinal changes during the period under investigation. New units were created, and the number of staff units increased. All these changes were directly related to the growth of industry and population in the territory of the Chuvash ASSR. It should also be taken into account that throughout this period there was a high workload for each police officer who exceeded the standards of the situation, which ultimately affected the quality of the fight against crime and the investigation of criminal cases, despite assistance from the public forces. Many changes in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic took place in the 1970s, which were directly related to the growth of not only the number of people and industry, but also the emergence of new settlements and cities in the republic.
