Extracurricular independent work of first-year students

In this article, the problem of organization of independent work of students is considered actual for modern Russian higher education. The оbject of the article is to identify problems in the organization of this work of students and show ways to overcome them. The author, using empirical methods of research, offers optimal forms of independent work for first-year students. The article concludes that the modern University should take into account different levels of independent work as a means of motivating students to learn.
