N. Ya. Danilevsky on the objects of economic policy in post-reform Russia

The article is devoted to the study of the views of the prominent Russian sociologist and publicist N. Ya. Danilevsky on the problems of economic policy in post-reform Russia. The author considers the suggestions of the conservative ideologist on the improvement of the forms of agriculture, the resettlement of peasants to new lands, the protection of the domestic industry from foreign competition, the development of communication routes, the transformation of the tax system, the adjustment of monetary circulation, etc. The article concludes that N. Ya. Danilevsky’s programme which included measures such as the government promotion of industrial growth, the tightening of customs protection, the state purchase of private railways and the establishment of state monopolies in indirect taxation was aimed at strengthening the statization of the Russian economy.
