The paper deals with the phenomenon of hidden aggression, revealed in the use of proverbs and sayings in mass media discourse. Communicative strategies and tactics of discourse in which proverbs and sayings are used are investigated. The special role of proverbs in mass media discourse caused by their unique functions is underlined.
