Correctional work on the development of emotional-volitional and cognitive spheres in mentally retarded preschoolers with autism spectrum disorders

The article deals with the problem of improving the psychological and pedagogical support of mentally retarded preschoolers with autism spectrum disorders; highlights the results of the study of the level of formation of emotional-volitional and cognitive spheres; reveals approaches to the organization of correctional work on the development of emotional-volitional and cognitive spheres in this category of children. Materials and methods: analysis of psychological-pedagogical and educational-methodical literature on the problem of research, pedagogical experiment; quantitative and qualitative processing of the obtained experimental data Results: 1) the analysis of psychological-pedagogical and educational-methodical literature on the research problem was carried out; 2) the data available in the literature on the peculiarities of the formation of emotional-volitional and cognitive spheres were supplemented; 3) the conditions for improving psychological-pedagogical assistance to children with autism spectrum disorders were determined. Discussion and conclusions: improvement of correctional work on the formation of emotional-volitional and cognitive spheres of mentally retarded preschoolers with autism spectrum disorders is provided through the implementation of a specially developed correctional program based on an individual approach and using an electronic educational resource. This correctional program promotes the formation of children's skills to recognize, transmit various kinds of emotional states and adequately interact with peers and adults in everyday situations.
