N.V. Ustyugov and the teaching of heraldry in the USSR

The article shows the contribution of N. V. Ustyugov to the formation of the teaching model of heraldry, which became the main one in Soviet higher education. The content of N. V. Ustyugov's course at the Historical and Archival Institute and the methods used by the scientist to present heraldic information are analyzed. It was concluded that the course contributed to the preservation of heraldry as a science in the Soviet period.
