the article defines the concept of educational text, which is used in distance and correspondence education. The composition of the educational text is revealed in the form of functional-logical components: the main text, context and subtext, their definitions are given. It contains a brief description of the essence of auxiliary functional-logical units: hypertext and multimedia text. Some conditions (principles) for the formation of all these units are given.
