The concept "city" in materials of the mass media

the article discusses and reveals such concepts as the language worldview, linguoculturology, concept, concept sphere and media worldview. The analysis of the materials of the National Corpus of the Russian Language is described. The article interprets the concept of «city» as an element of typical language situations, as one of the key ideas of the media worldview; a system of semantic ideas about the city is revealed. The city, as an ancient and at the same time the most modern form of human settlement, is the subject of close attention of various social groups, as well as specialists in the field of architecture, history, geography, economics, art history and many other sciences. The image of the city is a complex mental formation, the content of which in the linguistic culture is characterized by conceptual, figurative and value components. It is possible to carry the area (place) to conceptual; the figurative component includes people (residents), the image (appearance) of the city; the value component is a positive assessment of the benefits of civilization, a negative attitude towards the city.
